500 Women Scientists created a Fellowship for the Future

500 Women Scientists is a grassroots organization started by four women who met in graduate school at CU Boulder and who maintained friendships and collaborations after jobs and life took them away from Boulder. Immediately following the November 2016 election, we published an open letter re-affirming our commitment to speak up for science and for marginalized communities in science. More than 20,000 women of STEM and supporters from more than 100 countries have signed in support of 500 Women Scientists, pledging to build an inclusive scientific community dedicated to training a more diverse group of future leaders in science and to use the language of science to bridge divides and enhance global diplomacy.”

The Fellowship is a two-year program to support women of color in STEM who are leading community-based projects in line with the 500 Women Scientists mission. To learn about 500 Women Scientist, please follow these links:

Annual Reports

As part of the fellowship, awardees receive:

  • A one-time $7,500 honorarium
  • An annual $1,250 in supplementary project funds
  • Support, community, and resources provided from networking with previous fellows, the Fellowship for Future team, broader 500 Women Scientists leadership team, and advisory board
  • Travel funds to attend in-person 500 Women Scientists meetings (pending CDC pandemic recommendations)

Application information is already on the website. The application process opens Jan 4, 2021, at 9 AM PST (12 noon ET) and is due Jan 31, 2021.
