
Who helps those who help others?
After COVID-19 and as the concept of Environmental Justice (EJ) grows in social awareness, the impact on First Responders and disaster responders in their work to help and assist others is becoming better understood. The people we depend on to aid us at extremely difficult times suffer from stress and mental health challenges, and many times this fact is overlooked.
Kalie Burke, MPH, Disaster Mental Health Coordinator for the Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) two sessions on meeting the practical and emotional needs of dealing with disasters and disaster survivors.
